JVP Message Board Policies Print E-mail
The James Van Praagh (JVP) Message Boards and other interactive features offer opportunities for meaningful interaction where users can share knowledge, experiences, and other helpful information. Posting a message on the JVP Message Board constitutes your agreement to abide by the following policies and guidelines. These guidelines also apply to your communication with the team of moderators. The Terms and Conditions agreement provides additional detailed guidelines for JVP Community registered user conduct.

The JVP Message Board is moderated to ensure that this online community is constructive and beneficial to all visitors. All messages are reviewed by a JVP web site moderator before being posted.

One registered online account (or username) is allowed per person. Secondary or duplicate accounts will be deleted and the user may be banned from the message board. The creation of a duplicate account as an attempt to circumvent a suspension will result in further disciplinary action.

User Behavior Guidelines

Use "Netiquette": There are several sources on the internet that can help you communicate effectively using “Netiquette.” Quite simply, Netiquette is a set of core guidelines to help the cyberspace community behave productively while online. Since expression, gestures, and voice tone are all invisible to members, it’s helpful to understand basic online etiquette.

Civility and courtesy in communication should be practiced by participants posting to this board. All participants are free to express their opinions in a respectful manner. Disagreements will naturally arise, but personal attacks are never acceptable. James Van Praagh, his web administrator and message board moderators are committed to maintaining this board as a welcoming environment for all.

You agree not to use the board to send or post any message or material that is illegal, harassing, libelous, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, profane, pornographic, racially offensive, intentionally inaccurate or otherwise objectionable. You also agree not to use this board to communicate information or material that encourages conduct that could constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national or international law or regulation.

Be Succinct: Stay on topic and collect your thoughts before communicating them publicly in writing. If your comments are off topic, you may wish to indicate this early in your message or perhaps the subject header.

Build Online Rapport: In addition to mutual understanding, there will surely be conflicting points of view at times. Remember to respect the opinions of others. Part of what makes a good community is the ability to see different points of view. Agreeing to disagree is good Netiquette. Those who foster goodwill will get more participation from others.

Respect Others: This is really the bottom line. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This includes refraining from using profanity or engaging in conduct that would be deemed inappropriate in real-life, face-to-face situations.

Any other unauthorized or illegal use of or activities on this board, including copyright infringement, are prohibited.
