Invite Your Intuition In

Jul 16, 2018 | JVP's Blog

“There is a universal, intelligent, life force that exists within everyone and everything. It resides within each one of us as a deep wisdom, an inner knowing. We can access this wonderful source of knowledge and wisdom through our intuition, an inner sense that tells us what feels right and true for us at any given moment”. Shakti Gawain

Last week, I wrote about the life-changing power of gratitude. For days after I shared that blog with you, I had the nagging feeling that there was something else I had to tell you about that was equally significant!

I always trust my feelings – and funnily enough – that’s exactly what I have to share with you.

Listening to your intuition (what I like to call your soul’s voice) is critical to living your very best life.

Here’s why…

While gratitude helps you open yourself up to opportunities and manifest good things as you travel life’s path, trusting your intuition helps you to navigate every twist and turn along the way. Are you struggling with a career change, relationship question, or any decision – large or small? When in doubt, always listen to your gut. Even if you’re NOT in doubt, check with your gut anyway!

Letting your inner knowing or intuition act as a compass is the best way I know to stay on the right path. Want proof? Think back to a time when you made a choice that turned out badly. Do you recall feeling the urge to go in a different direction? The chances are that your intuition was trying to warn you!

Turn back – the bridge is out!
If you love old black and white movies like I do, you’ve probably seen the dramatic scenario where it’s raining, and just in the nick of time, a mysterious stranger stops a car before it drives over the collapsed bridge and plunges into the waters below. That’s a great analogy for how your intuition can save you from disaster.

When things are meant to be, there’s usually an easy flow. When the opposite takes place, and every step of the way presents a frustrating obstacle, it’s time to tune into your intuition. Rather than ignoring the signs and forging on, pay attention to what your inner voice is telling you.

Here’s an exercise I like to use to navigate situations that are just not flowing.

Sit quietly and focus on your breath for a few minutes. Imagine a large, beautiful lotus flower. Picture the healthy pink petals, glowing and sprinkled with drops of water.
Now think of something (a goal, a relationship, a career) you’re pursuing that is not flowing, but instead is giving you difficulty.

Imagine your situation is represented by the flower. Peel back each petal and as you do, imagine you’re stripping away something that’s standing between you and total clarity.

The first petal represents other people’s expectations and judgments. As you pull it back, imagine yourself freed from worrying about what other people think.

The next represents tradition – what society thinks you should do. As you strip it off, imagine you are giving yourself permission to chart your own course, even if that means taking an alternative route.

Keep peeling back petals, and as you do, feel yourself letting go of everything except your own true voice – the voice of your soul. Let go of negative self-talk, fear of failure, what your friends on social media will think.

Now imagine the golden center of the lotus blossom.

Think of the problem you’re faced with, and silently (or out loud) ask this question:

“How is my intuition guiding me to proceed?”

Note any insights and inspiration that comes through. They might pop into your head immediately, or it could take a little more time. Keep a notebook handy to jot everything down. Most importantly, keep the beautiful center of the lotus blossom in mind – glowing like a beacon of truth. Don’t let what you let go of in your visualization (judgments, fear and other people’s expectations) distract you from your own inner knowing.

Building a foundation for other spiritual gifts.
You were born with intuition. When you develop and enhance your ability to be mindful of your inner knowing, you’ll find that you will effortlessly make decisions that are in harmony with YOU. In addition, you’ll form a spiritual foundation that allows additional gifts to flourish – mediumship, healing, clairvoyance and more!

Intuition can help you predict what life has in store for you. Once you know where your true path lies, you can enjoy the journey without second-guessing yourself.
