Step into the Mystic

Mar 13, 2021 | JVP's Blog

When I was a boy, my whole family looked forward to  March 17th. My dad would take us all to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the city, then we’d head to his favorite Irish pub for corned beef and cabbage.

My favorite part of the day was when the bagpipers walked by. There was something about the wailing of the pipes that stirred up mystical, magical feelings in my young soul.

Late one St. Patrick’s Day, I was fast asleep when I heard the unmistakable sound of bagpipes – louder than I’d ever heard them in my life. I jumped out of bed and rushed toward the sound. Standing in our small kitchen, I saw a man in traditional kilts and tall socks, blowing into his pipes. I couldn’t figure out how it was that no one else in the family heard the racket, until I realized I was in the presence of a being from the Other Side.

It’s one of my earliest memories of spirit connection, and one of my fondest. I knew intuitively that the piper meant no harm. He played for a while, and then was gone.

I didn’t tell anyone about my encounter, but years later, I was going through some old photos and saw the same man with his bagpipes. I showed the photo to my father, who recognized an old neighbor.

“We always celebrated St. Patrick’s Day together when I was a boy,” my dad reminisced. “He was a New York firefighter, and died years ago on the job.”

A Time of Magic and Mysticism
Looking back, I’m not surprised that Spirit decided to pay me a visit on that day. St. Patrick’s Day is one of those times when I feel like my spiritual gifts get an extra boost – and I’ll bet I’m not alone in that!

I don’t know if it’s my childhood memories of the day, or the way my soul is drawn to all things Irish, but around this time of year I’ve always sensed the presence of my Irish ancestors, and even glimpsed flashes in my garden that I swear are the “little people.”

I like to celebrate the day with classic Irish music (the kind my mother always loved) and some traditional Irish food and drink.

This year, I plan on spending time on Facebook Live to share stories and lead you through meditations that will leave everyone feeling the magic!

I’ll have a few more special surprises to share, but you’ll have to tune in to find out more. (be sure to open any emails you receive from me, too!)

In the meantime, here’s a special meditation to open up the heart chakra and flood your being with the beautiful green light of love!

Try my Emerald Light Meditation when you wake up. You can also sit outside in the moonlight for an extra mystical experience.

Emerald Light Meditation
Bring yourself to a comfortable position, either sitting up or laying on your back.

Before you begin, set your intention to connect with your heart chakra. This chakra holds the center of love, empathy, and compassion and is represented by the color green.

The lesson of the heart chakra is that you must fully love and accept yourself before you can love and accept others.

As you begin, let your body settle and notice your breath.

Spread your collar bones wide, opening up the space that holds your heart. If it’s comfortable for you, you can bring one hand to your heart and the other on top or to your belly. Bring your awareness to the space that surrounds your heart. Notice that space rise and fall with your breath.

As you inhale, feel your belly expand and fill your lungs with fresh air. As you exhale, feel your belly contract, emptying out a space for new awareness.

Now imagine you’re breathing in a beautiful, ethereal emerald light. Draw it in through your nostrils, and visualize it filling your heart space. Feel the warm, comfortable energy as it fills your heart and expands to encompass your entire being.

As you breath out, consciously release pain and hurt that might be causing you to block or reject love.

Imagine those walls breaking down.

Now breathe in and imagine those walls being replaced by the emerald light.

As you breathe, imagine the faces of people you love.

Allow love to radiate from your heart space out and into these people.

Now call to mind someone who has hurt you. Bring their face very clearly into your mind’s eye.

Allow love and forgiveness to radiate from your heart space out and into this person.

Now picture yourself and bring your own face very clearly into your mind’s eye.

Allow the green light of the heart chakra to flood your entire body. Imagine an emerald glow filling your heart and radiating outward.

Continue to breather in the green light, then slowly open your eyes. Carry the light with you throughout your day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Enjoy the magic!
