I’ve known Gordon Smith for many years, and he’s not only a wonderfully gifted medium, but an amazing person. That’s why I’m so thrilled to share this news with you – next month, Gordon will be traveling from his home in Glasgow, Scotland to San Diego, California to join me for two events! First, we’ll be hosting a hands-on mediumship workshop on August 25th – 26th, then we’ll be sharing the stage for an Evening of Spirit Messages at the Seaside Center for Spiritual Living on Friday, August 26th. I hope to see you at one or both of these events!
Gordon shared his story with me, and now I’m sharing it with you in hopes that it will inspire you on your own Spiritual Path.

My Spiritual Journey

For more than thirty-five years I have been studying and working with mediumship and spiritual practices. It all began for me back in my early twenties when I was fortunate enough to join the spiritual development class of Mrs Jean Primrose in Glasgow, Scotland.
Mrs P, we called her, was an old school medium who had learned her craft with the best of mediums in the UK and I was one of the few who were lucky enough to be chosen to be her student for the first seven years of my spiritual education.
As well as learning the skills of mental-mediumship, spiritual healing and trance-mediumship, Mrs P encouraged me to study the history of Spiritualism and any spiritual practice I felt drawn to; for me that was all of them. My young mind was like a sponge, waiting to absorb information and soak it up, as there seemed to be no filling of my very open mind. Many people close to me felt that I was always overreaching and advised me to do less and relax, but for me, all that knowledge has become useful as I eventually branched out into teaching and mentoring students. I believe that a good teacher should have access to much knowledge.
Along with my desire to study the spiritual world and school of mysteries, I also have demonstrated my mediumship in public and private to audiences and sitters in almost all of the world for more than thirty years and learned much from my own experiences with people and spirit. I try to always bring the highest standard to my work as a medium, which means that I strive to be as evidential as possible; it is how I was taught and it truly helps the recipient to trust the process when they can understand clearly, the spirit who communicates through me. For me it is as simple as this, I put in the time in my early development, and it has stood by me all though my life and practice since. I have no fear or anxiety about demonstrating my gift as I have total trust in the spirit who work with me.
I believe that as well as developing the spiritual gifts I have, I also feel that it is very important to develop me! By this, I mean that the process of spiritual development is an ongoing thing which travels with you all through your life. It is because of this type of thinking that I studied Buddhism and other eastern paths. I believed that such ways of living encouraged the mind to strive to be balanced and fair. In genuine meditation practices we tend to examine the self more and the actions we carry out become more measured. The spiritual mind that truly wishes to grow knows in the heart of their being, that the entire business of living this life is about learning lessons that will improve the self and allow it to grow to be a better version of itself.
Put together the natural gift of mediumship that has been trained to be conscious of peoples’ needs, with the desire to become a better version of the you that first started on the journey and you are already developing compassion for self and others. It is with this in mind that I try to impart the same to all my students and that is simply to try to always work with good intentions and a strong belief in the gifts you have to share and an undying trust in the spirit who work with you and you will do alright on this path of developing mediumship.
Remember, the path has its ups and downs, its highs and lows, but it is the joy you will feel in your very soul, when we know that what you have done has helped or healed someone’s suffering, that should be the real reward for all you have trained for.
Finally, I say please do try to keep it simple, learn to train your mind not to struggle when it can’t find the answers to life’s deeper questions; It doesn’t mean you have failed, it means that it’s not the time. Spiritual development is like a school, but even schools give you time to relax and play. Give yourself reality checks now and again and remember to have fun on the way. Once you have made that bond with spirit you are never alone and therefor you have nothing to fear on this path because you can’t actually die for the life of you!
All of this being said, I applaud any who come on this journey and I simply ask them one thing which is this; when it comes to those who seek your help, remember kindness.
