If you’ve ever gotten a reading from a medium – either in a private session or at a group event – you know what an eye-opener it can be. First of all, the very idea that someone you thought was gone forever can reach across the veil and send you a message is life changing. But it goes even deeper. When you have proof that death isn’t “the end” and love is eternal, it makes you rethink everything.
Suddenly, you realize the fear of death isn’t as important as the fact that love never dies.
Helping people embrace that important truth is my mission as a Spiritual Medium, and I have a message for all the mediums in the world. This work will change you, just as it’s changed me. Spending my life connecting people with loved ones on the other side has given me a new perspective on life.
What’s it like to talk to the dead?
Let me try to describe what being a medium is like. Imagine you meet a time traveler who has journeyed backward from the future. The traveler is able to tell you, without a doubt, what the rest of your life will be like and give you a preview of what will be going on in the world around you. Undoubtedly, they have some surprising things to tell you. After receiving this information, you naturally find your focus changing and your priorities shifting because you now know in advance the people, places, and decisions that will be the most important in your life.
It’s that way for mediums. We spend our days hearing from souls who look back on their lives with 20/20 hindsight. They KNOW from their new, divine perspective what is important and what isn’t. They know that when you die, it doesn’t matter how much money you had, what kind of car you drove, or what you did for a living. What keeps your memory alive on earth is the kindness, love and compassion you showed to others.
We’ve all heard people say, “ No one on their death bed ever wished they’d spent more time at the office.” Well mediums know that first-hand. Every day we hear from Spirits who regret not spending more time with their family, and who line up when there’s a medium present in hopes that they can have one more chance to say “I love you” to the people they left behind.
The dead are pretty ingenious when it comes to letting their loved ones know they’re around. This just happened to me a few days ago, and it blew my mind!
It started when my good friend Nancy was comforting a friend who had lost her husband. Nancy had lost her own husband, Scott, years before. Since Nancy is so familiar with my work, she was able to help her friend connect with her deceased husband. Together they asked him for a sing, and no sooner had they done so when the woman’s wedding ring rolled off her bedside table and onto the floor. When Nancy told me this, there was no doubt in any of our minds that it was truly a sign from Heaven.
But imagine my surprise when later in the day, I went into my garage and found a thin, gold ring on the floor. I put it aside, and wondered if the ring was also a sign. Well, later that week, I stopped into a convenience store for a bottle of water, and I spotted a shop next door that I’d never seen before. It was called “Mystical Visions” so of course, I had to check it out. The first thing I saw was a dragonfly necklace, and something told me to buy it for Nancy. I sent the necklace to her, and before sealing the package, I threw in the gold ring I’d found in my garage.
A couple of days later, the phone rang, and it was Nancy. “I love the dragonfly necklace! Did you know that dragonflies are Scott’s way of letting me know he’s around me? But where did you find my ring? Scott gave that to me over twenty years ago, and I haven’t seen it for ages!”
Well, Nancy has never even been to my home in San Diego, and I don’t know how her ring wound up on my garage floor. But one thing I do know – this whole encounter is just another example of how love endures, and the people who care about you the most find ways to reach out and let you know they’re still with you – and that they’re sending you their love!
It sometimes takes something like this to realize how thin the line is between heaven and earth, body and soul. I tell my students that our physical body and earthly concerns are just the tip of the iceberg in relation to who we really are. The soul can’t be seen, but it can definitely be felt – and is what makes you the divine being that you are, connected to the universe by bonds of love.
