Over the last few weeks, I’ve been reaching out to students and friends. I’ve listened as they shared their worries about what’s happening in the world. I understand. It’s unsettling when reality shifts as quickly as it has this year – but I’m compelled to repeat the same message to everyone I talk to. “Trust the universe, trust your guides and angels, and trust yourself.”
When you feel worried or afraid, remind yourself that even though you may not be in total control of the virus, you are 100% in control of your reaction to it. You have the power to decide whether you allow fear to become part of your everyday life.
I know it’s not easy. For many, what’s happening feels a bit traumatic and brings to the surface the basic human need for security and safety. But with these three mindful practices, you can bring yourself into the present moment and replace fear with strength, trust, and love.
Renew Your connection to Mother Earth.
Energetically, the emotion most people are reacting to right now is based in the First Chakra, also called the Root Chakra. As the first chakra, the Root Chakra plays a big role in our lives and how we relate to the world around us. It’s tied to security, safety, and our sense of family and self.
When the Root Chakra is out of balance, it triggers the fight or flight reflex. In that state, you’re coming from a place of fear rather than enlightenment. But, like a lot of things, when you pause, and sit in the stillness for a few minutes, you become fully aware of the present moment. That’s when you have the ability to control your energy flow. By balancing your Root Chakra, you stay grounded and connected to the earth – the source of strength and security.
Right now I’m emphasizing the need for TWICE DAILY (morning and evening) grounding down to Mother Earth. You can go onto my Facebook page and use and copy the “Mountain Meditation” I shared on Sunday. Remember, you are never alone, the Universe, your Angels, Guides and Loved one are walking next to you, assisting in your earthly journey.
Find a positive outlet for your feelings.
When you come across a challenge or some disturbing news, rather than holding it inside, ruminating over it, and letting it grow, release it by focusing outward.
Writing down your feelings every day is a great way to do this. I talked to a friend who has always kept a journal, and she gave me a few tips to help you get started.
- A journal can be anything – you can write in a notebook, type in your computer, even use voice recognition to transcribe your thoughts. How you do it doesn’t matter, maintaining a regular habit is what counts.
- Don’t censor yourself or even worry about grammar and punctuation. Let your feelings pour out onto the paper.
- Let yourself work through your feelings in your journal. If your initial words are worried or fearful, search for something positive to finish your entry with. Look for a silver lining, something you’re grateful for, an act of kindness you read about or witnessed. You might even wrap up with a hopeful affirmation for the day.
Be a “carrier” of positive energy.
Several people have commented to me that’s its especially shocking to think of how quickly the virus spreads. But think of this. Once you ground yourself, you can share that strong, calm energy with others through a smile, a phone call, or a kind act. This will help them to feel more positive themselves – and that will spread just as quickly.
To speed the transmission of good thoughts and feelings, use the power of your mind. When you connect with the outside world in whatever safe way you choose, imagine your energy spreading out across the world. Let other people in on your visualization and encourage them to spread the positive vibes.
I’m here to help you through this time.
When I asked the Spirit World what service can I provide for you in this great time of global transformation? I heard them simply say: “You.” So, the first thing I did was to implement a daily safe space for you to place your mind.
I do a DAILY Facebook Live at 12:00PM (PST) entitled: “SOUL CARE.” Here we share questions, insights, meditations, exercises and passages from my favorite spiritual library. So, instead of news, which can bring you down, SOUL CARE brings you up, grounded and connected. I hope you’ll join me and share news of this daily broadcast with anyone who needs it.
The next step, I wanted to make sure that all my works for the school were available to everyone, so I am having a “Soul Self Care” sale and reducing everything to 30% off. Use coupon code “soul30” at check out to take advantage of it. I wish I could give them away, but there are considerable costs associated with running the school, and I want to be sure it’s always available to my students.
I know you will find the course or meditation which is perfect for you at this very intense time. I look forward to sharing more space with you on Facebook or through the school.
Remember, to bring love where every you walk.
Namaste, James
